Round 3 of the 2017 CAMS, Carnarvon Motel, Western Australian Off-Road Racing Championship, and Round 2 of the 2017 WAORRA Club Championship Series, took place over the WA Day long weekend (3-4 June 2017).
One of the fastest tracks in Western Australia, the Marsue Transport Bencubbin 400 saw 39 competitors start from the sports oval in the town of Bencubbin and cover land across several farming properties. As always, it was a tough, gruelling, but fast long course off-road racing track that consisted of a minor course of 25 kilometres plus a main course of 75 kilometres. The track comprised some tight twisty sections among the sandalwood trees, and some high-speed paddock sections. The fast sections were interspersed with several tighter sections to keep the drivers honest. At the end of Sunday’s racing, 14 cars crossed the finish line completing all five laps.
Congratulations to Harleigh Uren (77), Nathaniel Edwards, Luke McLean and Charlie Edwards (161), and Jared Percival and Darren Beckett (119) for taking out the podium positions. You can read the full race report on the WAORC website.
With catering, a licensed bar, hot showers, clean toilets, a green sporting oval, a playground, and lots of spectator points including a run on the road in front of the Bencubbin Primary School, spectators and families had a great time too.
A huge thank you goes out to our event sponsors:
