The Duke of York Hotel Narrogin Chase is done and dusted. And boy was it dusty!
Held at the Patmore property on Springhill Road in Cuballing on 23 and 24 April 2016, racing was conducted over both Saturday and Sunday with competitors split into two heats to complete 10 laps of the approximately 15 kilometre track. The race featured two at a time starts for nine day laps, plus a hot lap after the sun went down on Saturday.
Dust was thick at the only short course event in Western Australia in 2016, but the track offered plenty of opportunities to pass and provided action-packed racing. Based around a hill that commands the best views of any off-road course in Australia, and being only 190 kilometres south east of Perth, this was an ultimate spectator event and drew a crowd of spectators and families.
Cars lined up for scrutineering and a street display at Elders Narrogin on Saturday morning and put on a show for the local community. The Narrogin Speedway Club provided catering all weekend and kids were treated to a movie and lolly bag at the track on Saturday night.
It was a great event once again and we’d like to say a massive thanks to our event sponsors:
