Kim Yaxley

In celebration of the 2017 International Women’s Day, we’d like to highlight some of the women on the WAORRA committee.

Name?

Kim Yaxley.

When/how did you get involved in motorsport?

I was introduced to motorsport when I was 18. When I started dating my husband, he took me to my first speedway event in NZ.

How are you currently involved in motorsport?

I am the club President of WAORRA, nominated by my husband in 2015 and I pit crew for him when we are competing in WAORRA race events.

What do you like most about motorsport?

Watching our family and friends competing plus the places we get to travel to around WA and the racing community we get to catch up with.

What was your first street car?

Toyota Corolla.

What do you think are the pros/cons about being a woman in motorsport?

It takes a lot of coordinating the family with teenagers activities, working full time and WAORRA club tasks, meetings, event calendar. Some might say this is too much, but I really enjoy keeping busy and being involved in an amazing off road racing club.

The cost of competing has always been the main issue for us as a family.
